The day has finally arrived! Not the last day of your life, as some of your friend’s may try to convince you of believing, but the first day of your life as a husband. Otherwise known as the day you get to dress up like a penguin (if that’s the wardrobe choice you go with) and make your relatives cry out of enjoyment. This day should be a breeze; the hard part is behind you: you convinced her to agree to marry you. But, you shouldn’t relax just yet.

Brides Checklist

Just because it’s considered the bride’s day does not mean that you get to take a back seat for the event, as much as you would like to. Be prepared and make sure to have these handy items. Below, find a useful “disaster kit” for groom’s on their big day. The contents of the list can help make your day that much easier.

– Your vows! Unless and even if you’ve memorized them, these mushy words needs to be said. In case you freeze up come game time, it’s good to have them handy.
– Aspirin – it’ll be a long day, a headache may come your way.
– Extra shirt in the color you’ve chosen in case of spills or even if you sweat through your shirt.
– Extra tie/bow-tie/ascot – in case something gets spilled on the one you’re wearing, you have a back-up in the color you’ve chosen
– Extra pair of cuff-links in the style you’ve selected
– Cash – in case you need to tip anyone or need anything. It’s good to have.
– Cell phone – in case of emergency. Also, remind the priest/official performing the ceremony to have people shut their phones off
– Important numbers – let’s be honest, you don’t remember numbers anymore. Keep a list of important numbers, such as the caterers, wedding planner, mother of the bride, best man, etc.
– Boutonniere – you normally receive this at the church/venue, but if not, don’t forget this item at home
– Sewing kit – in case of any accidents!
– Toothbrush, toothpaste, breath mints and dental floss – stay fresh and let your first kiss as a bride be memorable for the right reasons, not because your breath was funky,
– Energy drink – you’ll get tired, get something in you to keep you going.
– Directions and numbers to all the places you and your new bride will be going to, including the number of the chauffeured.
– Comb and hair gel – in case you need any touch ups
– Deodorant – make sure to keep smelling great the entire day.
– Insoles for your shoes – you’ll be on your feet all day; you’ll want to be comfortable.
– Cologne – see 15 above.
– Handkerchief – not to cover your tears, unless you need to, but for your lapel pocket.
– Watch – keep track of things throughout the day, you may need to keep your rowdy groomsmen in order and on time.
– Lint Brush – you may not need it, but in case you get some relatives with fuzzy clothing and sheds, you’ll want to keep looking your best.
– Water – stay hydrated, did we mention it’ll be a long day?
– Black socks – always good to have an extra pair in case you’ve sweat through the ones you started the day with.
– Driver’s license – you may not actually need this, but in case, you’ll want this handy.
– Wedding documents – may want to have your marriage license, or any important receipts handy.
– Most importantly, your tungsten wedding bands!

Above all else, enjoy your day. Unless you have an extremely understanding wife to be who doesn’t mind a pair of cargo pants to match her beautiful white dress, it is advisable to bring a little gym bag with your goodies. Have a groomsman, put them to use.
