What I find in jewelry that makes it so special is that it often can symbolize any meaningful event in one’s life. It can be passed on through generations, given by a significant other as a sign of love and affection, or it can be gifted on any special occasion. I have two necklaces that mark the anniversary of my relationship with my boyfriend. I wear these necklaces every day as a reminder of how much he loves me, even if we live in different locations. My sister’s mother-in-law told me a beautiful story of all her wedding rings. Her first ring from her husband was when they were 20 and every few years or so he would keep giving her another ring, each more expensive than the one before, because it symbolized how far they made it in their relationship. The fact that jewelry symbolizes so many different forms of love makes it my favorite part of it.
